FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are many misconceptions surrounding a CLNC. The following common concerns will  assist you in deciding if a CLNC is best for your needs.

I already use a doctor to help me with my cases. Why should I use a CLNC?
Does your MD assist you with analyzing the nursing issues of a case? CLNCs are medical and nursing experts, and are more cost effective. Often, the best result can be obtained by using both an MD and CLNC.
My paralegal or law clerk can do the research for me. Why should I use a CLNC?
A CLNC’s focus is on nursing and medical issues. We are experts on the inner workings of the healthcare field, and are comfortable identifying health care standards, authoritative texts and assessing visual aids. We also have expertise in electronic medical records (EMR).
I don’t need a consulting expert. I need someone who will testify.
Preferred Medical-Legal Consulting can save you time and money by screening the case for merit and locating the appropriate experts for your case. Some things a consulting expert can do that a testifying expert does not or should not do due to discoverability issues are conducting research, interviewing clients and writing in-depth reports.
I’ve been doing this for 20 years myself. Why do I need you?
Preferred Medical-Legal Consulting will help you save money and give you as well as your team more time to focus on the legal issues of the case. We can assist you with services such as locating experts and translating the contents of the medical record.
My firm already has a nurse on board.
We can still help! Using Preferred Medical-Legal Consulting from time to time when the in-house nurse has an overflowing workload is more cost effective than hiring another in-house nurse. There are often needs an outside consultant can assist with.
I have a brain damaged baby case and I see from your CV that your experience is mostly in cardiology and ICU. Can I still use your services?
Absolutely! Preferred Medical-Legal Consulting is a member of a national network of over 6,000 experts in every field: high risk obstetrics, nursing home/long term care, trauma, emergency room, surgery, pediatrics, managed care, neurology, and orthopedics to name a few. Your time is valuable, so we can help you by finding the appropriate consulting and/or testifying expert(s) for your case, no matter what the case is about.
